Congratulations to 2009 Overall Winner:
Grand Traverse Area!!!
Keep Moving and Lose Weight!
Featured Participant: Shelley Bobcowski
Let’s Get Moving Northern Michigan can be more than just a
fun summer activity, it can be a whole new lifestyle!
Take it from 40 year old Shelley Bobcowski of Traverse City,
“This past year was my third year of
participation,” she said. Since beginning an ongoing diet and fitness regime
January, 2008, Shelley has shed more than 100 pounds and quit smoking. “I
did it with a great deal of motivation by the Let's Get Moving program, it is a
real motivator when you see how many miles you can do in a day then in a week
and then after a few months it was and is a real boost!”
Talk about an
inspiration! Shelley is humble about her
accomplishments but also eager to share her story and motivate others. “With LGMNM I always feel motivated to
doing more, I enjoy seeing our team do well and know I am apart of making it
great. Our team has done well the last 2 years and I take pride in knowing I
have been responsible in helping out. It truly is a great program and a lot of
fun!”
Creating and keeping a healthy lifestyle is more about the
decision than the program you choose to follow.
Let’s Get Moving Northern Michigan employs many tools known to support
healthy lifestyle change. Participating
on a team, keeping physical activity and nutrition logs, setting goals, and
enjoying friendly competition are all aspects designed to keep you motivated
throughout the program and beyond.
We all know that being overweight can and does lead to a
plethora of health problems. What we don’t
always realize is how quickly and effectively dropping a few pounds can conquer
these concerns. “I was pretty close to
300 lbs when I started out and with high blood pressure and on my way to having
sugar issue as well, not being able to climb a flight of stairs without being
out of breath and just plain feeling lousy. Now I feel wonderful and there's no
going back!” Shelley tells us candidly.
Shelley enjoys many activities, but is most commonly walking
or using an elliptical trainer. She has
recently joined a gym and incorporates strength training into her fitness program.
