BCBSM-Logo.jpg

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is donating a $5,000 incentive prize for the community with the most “per person” miles.  At time of program registration, choose to walk for "Alpena" and all your miles will be for the Alpena Area. At program completion, the community with the most miles per person will be awarded $5,000 to enhance community physical activity.  There are many ways this money can be used including park equipment, trail enhancement, and physical activity events to name a few.  The goal will be to implement something the entire winning community can benefit from.  The winning community will receive the monetary award, a small press event, an article in the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Newsletter, and a spot on the Let’s Get Moving Northern Michigan homepage!

NOTE:  If you are using a pedometer to track your steps, there are 2000 steps in 1 mile. Research tells us that to promote health, we should aim for 10,000 steps a day

"Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day."
Sally Koch

Strength training has many benefits, it
will boost your metabolism, tone your body,
reduce your risk of injury, increase bone
density, reduce anxiety and ease depression
and improve posture. The American College of Sports Medicine
recommends that adults perform at least
one set of strengthening moves 2 to 3
times per week.

"There is nothing you can't do, if you set your mind to it. Anything is possible."

TEAM SPIRIT

FORMING A TEAM:  Your family, school, business or department can develop its own LGM Alpena Team. If you want to designate a new team for  the 2009 campaign, contact Judy at 989-356-8058 or jmacneill@agh.org
to get your team name registered on the website. Teams must consist of at least 3 active members contributing miles throughout the program. Teams established from previous LGM Alpena campaigns may or may not not be still listed on the website. Once registered, all your team miles will be credited to your team as well as to the Alpena Area.

TEAM PLAQUES:  Get Your Team Spirit Going- Two participation plaques will be awarded at the completion of the 14 week program for the team with the most miles per person and the most over-all miles.  So gather up your team members and encourage everybody to "Get Moving"!
