PURPOSE

The NCC serves as a regional unifying voice and presence for patients, hospitals and health systems in northern Michigan by facilitating collaboration among providers, providing a forum for communication and education on key health issues, and promoting policy that ensures access to high quality and affordable health care.

GOALS

• Advocacy / Policy / Political - To advocate for appropriate health policy to assure adequate access to high quality, affordable health care services in rural communities

• Communication / Education - To provide a forum for communication and education that will enhance the effectiveness of hospitals and health services

• Health Improvement - To provide leadership in the improvement of the health status of residents throughout the North Central region

• Workforce - To facilitate collaboration among hospitals, public schools and community colleges to address the health professional workforce shortage

• Access for the Uninsured - To expand access to affordable health care services for the uninsured and underinsured in the North Central region
